Economist to Newsmax: 8M-9M Lose Health Insurance Without Megabill

Council of Economic Advisers Chair Stephen Miran told Newsmax on Monday that failure to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act would trigger “the biggest tax hike in history” and leave 8 million to 9 million Americans without health insurance.

On “The Record With Greta Van Susteren,” Miran defended the “big, beautiful bill,” known as the BBB, and its proposed Medicaid reforms. He emphasized that without the legislation, the nation faces steep tax increases and widespread coverage losses.

“So let me say a couple [of] things about Medicaid,” Miran told host Greta Van Susteren. “The first one is that if we don’t pass the bill, it’s going to be the biggest tax hike in history. It’ll send the economy careening into recession. And as a result of that, 8 [million] to 9 million people will lose their health insurance.”
