Forty-nine percent of U.S. adults say artificial intelligence is “just the latest in a long line of technological advancements that humans will learn to use to improve their lives and society” while an equal number say it is “very different from the technological advancements that came before and threatens to harm humans and society,” according to a survey released Thursday by Gallup.

Still, 59% say AI will reduce the need for humans to perform important or creative tasks.
