Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the chair of the House Oversight Committee, is calling on Washington, D.C. lawmakers to expedite approval of redevelopment plans for the RFK Stadium site before their August recess.
The NFL’s Washington Commanders vowed to invest $2.7 billion in exchange for the redeveloped site. Washington, D.C., said it would invest $1.1 billion over eight years to build a new stadium, housing and green space, the Hill reported.
“The Committee understands the need for deliberation and the availability of financial analyses and expects all required votes to be completed before the Council’s August recess,” Comer said in a letter to D.C. Council Chair Phil Mendelson.
