Russian operatives have increasingly targeted young Ukrainian users on social media with offers of quick cash in exchange for their collaboration, the Financial Times reported Monday.

Ukrainian officials warn that Moscow’s attempts to destabilize the country from within by enlisting young, vulnerable operatives is turning teenage curiosity into a tool of espionage and sabotage.

Senior officials in Kyiv told the Financial Times that there is a systematic grooming of teenagers and young adults, including those orphaned and displaced by the fighting, struggling financially or merely eager to earn some money.
