Trump: Iran Didn’t Move Nuclear Material Before Strikes

President Donald Trump insisted Wednesday that Iran did not move nuclear materials before last weekend’s strikes on Iranian facilities, contradicting an internal assessment indicating otherwise.

“We think we hit them so hard and so fast, they didn’t get to move,” Trump said during a press conference at the NATO summit at The Hague, reports The Hill. “If you knew about that material, it’s very hard and very dangerous to move. It’s called — many people, they call it dust, but it’s very, very heavy. It’s very, very hard to move. And they were way down. You know, they’re 30 stories down. They’re literally 30-35 stories down in the ground.”

Trump’s comments come as he and other administration leaders reject a preliminary assessment from the Pentagon Defense Intelligence Agency — which the Trump administration says was leaked — that reportedly determined the strikes set the Iranian nuclear program back by months, rather than “obliterating” it, as the administration claimed.
